I've decided to go back to school. I want to say I'm going to try to go back, but after all, "Hope Is Not A Plan." So here in print there is some accountability.
When I was mulling it over I I told a friend at work, "Who do I think I am, raising 3 children on my own, working full time, part time, and thinking I can go back to school?" And this wise woman answered "Somebody, that's who!" You're darn right.
Part time classes on my laptop after the kids are in bed will be a huge confidence boost, and step by step, they'll build my resume into something worthy. It is a statistical fact that 52% of the single mothers in our country live below the poverty line for the rest of their lives. Well. Not this one! Is that what I want to show my children? That we fought for less?
I know you guys are a wealth of information, so lay it on me. Tell me every tip, trick and scholarship you know of!
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. (Mark 11:24)

Hey Carolynn,
Glad to see you are working towards going to school!!! That's great!! I don't know much about scholarships and grants but I'm pretty sure there is alot of help out there for single parents.
Good Luck to you!!
You go girl! I don't know a lot about scholarships and such, although I do work at a college. My boss got one of her degrees online, and is working on taking another online class. If you have any questions that you want me to ask her, just let me know. I also have a friend who works in our financial aid office, so she might have information about scholarships - let me know if you want me to ask her any questions. They are both incredibly nice and I know they'd be willing to help answer questions, so don't hesitate to ask. =)
You make me smile!
I LOVE your determination, your grit, your song! Glee! Loved it.
Your church might have a scholarship.
I am SO proud of you.
You ARE somebody C, and nothing that you do to better your self and the lives of your family is a mistake.
Don't stop BELIEVING!!! Cause I never will.
Good for you. You will never regret going back, even when it gets tough. Remember to lean on those who love you!
Good for you! It will be tough but oh so worth it!
I am sure there are plenty of scholarships out there. I would think it would greatly depend on what you want to study and which schools. I just finished tracking scholarships down for my seniors and I can tell you, it takes time. But it is worth it.
Good luck!
I have no info on schooling or scholarships, but I do have one thing to say,
"You go girl!"
Oh, wait, two things,
"I'm believin' in you!"
I couldn't be more proud or more inspired by you. You make my heart sing darlin'.
I'm sure you will get financial aid so just fill our the FASFA forms!
My best advice I can give to you coming from someone currently taking claseses at home is set a schedule and keep a log holding yourself accountable. Its to easy to work all day and come home and get wrapped up in other stuff with kids and just plain tiredness.! Good luck and you'll be in our prayers.
I don't have much to say in regards to the application process but i can give some advice for study in general.
- Most assignments take longer than you expect so plan with this in mind. Be especially careful on this for questions that look easy. They often turn out to be harder than they look.
- Where you are studying can make a huge difference to how well you study. I've had to start leaving my room and finding somewhere else to study because i get too distracted in my room.
-Get some good citation management software (Endnote ect) it will save you a lot of time when you write essays.
- Make good use of Google Books and Google Scholar.
- Always be making very regular (eg every hour of work) backups of what you are working on on the computer. I can say from experience that loosing 2 essays from a computer crash the night before both are due is profoundly unpleasant.
