Four Letter Words

It is snowing.

I'm not pleased.

If you'll notice, snow is a four letter word. Especially in Wisconsin, where just 2 years ago we got eight feet of it. Not to mention all our veteran snow drivers act like they've lived in the tropics all their lives the first time we drive in it each year.

I'm not the only one using four letter words these days. This week when I picked up my 10 year old son from daycare, the conversation went something like this...
Teacher: I heard you said a bad word
Son: No I didn't
Teacher: Friend said you did, please tell me what you said
Son: I said son of b!$@%
Teahcer: You can't say that; that's a bad word
Son: Really? I saw it on Cat In The Hat, I think that's rated G
Now seriously, we watched it together on Thanksgiving. On ABC Family. He heard correctly. My jaw about hit the floor when Mike Myers said it.

There's been a lot of rearranging of visitation lately, which drives the kiddies up the wall. Right behind you. In the snow. I'm cranky. Trying to remember, "Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be." ~Abraham Lincoln

So tomorrow we'll pay a visit to Santa at the mall. Try for the millionth time to get all the laundry done and put away (even for an hour!), pick out a Christmas Tree, and we'll watch a new Veggie Tales movie.

I've been amazed at what they have on ABC "family" sometimes. And what are they thinking putting that in a kids movie to begin with??? It's crazy!

Have fun with the Christmas activities! And I hope the visitation stuff settles down soon and gets back to normal (or into a new normal.)

gotta tell ya ..

We were driving to church recently. We take the kids and the two grandkids that live close. Cloe(whose picture everyone has seen) is about 2 and a half. She had TJ's drink and was about to spill it on purpose. TJ caught her and abruptly said loudly. "Cloe. don't do that!" Cloe jumped and Kyle (the 14 yr old boy) jumped as well. I said, "you scared the both."
Before anything else could be said, sweet and innocent Cloe said, "scared the piss outta me"."

Now, while it isnt a curse word, it also isnt a word a 2 yr old needs to be using, even if she does use it correctly. TJ tried to scold her about it and tell her she shouldnt say that. However, it proved to be more difficult that she thought, as I, driving the big red truck, was laughing until I cried.

Ah, grandparenthood ! I love it.

oh yeah, add me on facebook !

I have been following your blog for a while (through another friends blog). My friend sent me a song that reminded me of you today. "Long Trip Alone: by Dierks Bentley" The way it is portrayed on the radio is not the same as the original version. Just thought I would share:

wow. I found your blog randomly but I know i was shocked to find out that my God Son who is only 15 months says s**t. :( As for the cat in the hat... I am terrified of that movie for some reason (sad because im 23) so I wont watch it but that is pretty wrong considering it is a child's movie. maybe they need to rerate it.

My husband and I are constantly amazed at the language they put into kids' movies. Our biggest pet peeve is "gd" and they seem to think they should stick that in to every movie, no matter what the rating.
I hope you are having a great Christmas, my dear friend.

Update? ;)

I saw that movie in the theater and was appalled.
I was told once that we become desensitized to language because we hear so much of it, but go into a tv program with the sole purpose of counting the offenses and you'd be surprised. The way Hollywood slips garbage into movies geared for children makes me really grumpy-- snow not so much so. I grew up in AZ, I'm loving this :-)
